CALHOUN DEVELOPING A NEW COMPREHENSIVE PLAN - Public Meeting Set July 20

(07/16/2021)
Calhoun is getting a new Comprehensive Plan to provide guidance for future decision-making, according to Calhoun Commissioner Kevin Helmick, a plan developed by West Virginia University.

The public is invited to attend a public hearing on July 20 at 5 p.m. at the Calhoun Park Barn to review and give comment to the nearly 100 page document.

Helmick says the plan prepares a county for action when opportunities present themselves and allows the community to give in-sight on needs and solutions the county has or will face in the future.

It covers land law, housing, economic development, and many other components, and often lays the groundwork for state and federal funding.

Board Members on the planning commission: Kevin Helmick, Kelli Whytsell, Martha Haymaker, Ariel Mooney, Ron Blankenship, Debra Smith, Donnie Pitts and Sheila Burch.
