Ruby Mae Carson, 83, of Burnsville

Ruby Mae Carson, 83 of Long Shoal Run Road, Burnsville WV, (Gilmer County) departed this earthly life in the afternoon hours of Saturday, July 3, 2021 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born September 1, 1937 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Oda and Eva Casto Collins.

Ruby is a homemaker who loved caring for her family. In her spare time she enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, canning, camping, and fishing.

Ruby is a Christian by faith, who loved spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.

On August 5, 1955 Ruby was united in marriage to Charles Ray Carson, who survives at their home on Long Shoal Run Road.

Surviving are 5 children, Barbara Cayton and husband Tom of Burnsville, Jimmy Carson of Heaters WV, Sharon Brooks of Orlando WV, Charles Carson and companion Connie of Aldie VA, and Cathy Bosley and husband Rondle of Burnsville; 3 grandchildren, Brian Cayton of Vienna WV, Kevin Cayton and wife Amanda of Fairmont WV, and Jeremy Carson of Heaters; 3 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Aubree Cayton, and Faith Offutt, and Chub Ratliff of Glenville, who was like a son-in-law.

Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by a son, Gary Carson, and 8 siblings, Betty Baker, Cecil Collins, Clifford Collins, Nora Tomblin, Guy Collins, Gabe Collins, Ruth Tomblin, and Lewis Collins.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville WV at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Canfield Cemetery near Stouts Mills WV. Friends will be received from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mortuary in Glenville.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to WV Caring (Hospice), P.O. Box 323, Burnsville WV 26335 in honor of Ruby.

Ellyson Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc., is honored to assist the family of Ruby Mae Carson with arrangements.
