FRIDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Calhoun Has Six New Cases In Past 7 Days

West Virginia health officials reported two coronavirus deaths and 52 new positive cases in Friday’s update.

The death total for the pandemic is now at 2,899, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources. The most recent confirmed deaths were an 83-year-old man from Mercer County and an 83-year-old man from Wyoming County.

Active cases were down to 1,259, which is a decrease of 75 from the last update. The state’s cumulative positive test percentage remained at 5.01% and the daily positive percentage test rate decreased from 1.53% Thursday to 1.26% Friday.

There were 65 people hospitalized with the virus in the latest update, with 24 in intensive care and seven on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 159,991.
