MONDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Braxton County Tops 1,000 Cases

West Virginia health officials reported two new COVID-19 deaths and 163 new positive cases in the latest update on Monday, the first report since last Friday.

The death total for the pandemic is now at 2,878, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources. The most recent confirmed death includes an 80-year-old Clay man.

Braxton County has topped 1,000 cases.

Active cases were down to 1,467, which is a decrease of 286 from the last update, which was Friday. The state’s cumulative positive test percentage went from 5.04% to 5.03% and the daily positive percentage test rate increased from 1.41% Friday to 1.79% Monday.

The most recent update on hospitalizations was Friday. There were 86 hospitalized with the virus, with 27 in intensive care and 12 on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 159,622 on Monday.
