COVID-19 VARIANTS ON RISE IN WV - Calhoun Has Seven UK Strain Cases |

| According to the most recent data available, the state has found 2,108 cases of the UK variant, five cases of the South Africa variant, 14 cases of the Brazil variant and 238 cases of the California variant. The UK variant is now the dominant strain in West Virginia. Calhoun has had seven cases of the UK variant, with other variants continuing to rise.
UK variants Gilmer 9; Ritchie 8, Roane 12, Wirt 9. Seven more people have been confirmed as deaths from the virus since the update last Thursday. Active cases were at 2,083 with 245 new cases reported since the last update last Thursday. A total of 100 people are in a hospital with 37 in an intensive care unit and 13 on ventilators.
