HERALD ISSUES FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST TO WEST VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION - Seeking 2021 Calhoun Road-Bridge Improvements

(06/17/2021)
3/16/2021 - Public information from the WV Department of Transportation has become difficult to obtain, once readily available.

With no reply to numerous emails and phone calls, the Hur Herald has issued a Freedom of Information request to Justin Smith, District Engineer (District Three) in Parkersburg.

The request is for a current 2021 list of road and ridge improvements in Calhoun.

Using the Freedom of Information Act, any citizen can request public information.

CALHOUN AND REGIONAL STRUCTURAL BRIDGE CONDITION - Public Information In Short Supply With Road Improvements 3/15/2021 - The Hur Herald found the state is requiring news outlets or citizens to issue a Freedom of Information request to the West Virginia Department of Highways to obtain what appears to be a shortened list of bridges with deficiencies, which appears below.

National study groups continue to say WV is worst or near worst in the nation with bridges that are deficient.

Currently, multiple emails and phone calls to the District Engineer of the WVDOT in Parkersburg has failed to get a list of current road and bridge improvements for Calhoun County.

Such information was once readily available during the past 25 years.

The Hur Herald is issuing, under the Freedom of Information Act, asking the WV-DOT for a current list of road, bridge, paving and other improvements for Calhoun in 2021.
