Shelia Ann Backus Harold, 62, of Spencer

Shelia Ann Backus Harold, 62, of Spencer WV, died Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born September 19, 1958 at Sutton WV, the daughter of the late Robert A. and Evelyn Carol Summers Backus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. “Rick” Harold; a brother, Robert A. Backus, Jr.; grandniece, Kelsey N. Brannon; an uncle, Walter R. “Bud” Summers, Jr.; grandparents, Walter R. and Rebecca Mae Salisbury Summers, Sr.

Sheila was an employee of Roane General Hospital, Spencer, with 30+ years of service.

Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Nylotis “June” (Backus) and James R. “Jim” Brannon of Spencer and Kimberly Elaine (Longfellow) and Jerri T. Rogers of Beavercreek OH; aunt and uncle, Charlotte “Kay” Summers Grimmet and Harry A. Grimmet of Ocala FL; sister-in-law, Terri Backus of Teays Valley WV; aunt, Terri Summers Hoover of Sutton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beth and Garry Bender of Spencer; nieces and nephews, Lindsey and Matthew Bender, Keely and Cody Backus, Ayla Rogers, John and Jamie Brannon, Eli, Kamryn and Emma Brannon; and many cousins; her pets, which she dearly loved, Ringo, Wendall and Trixie.

She will be cremated and laid to rest with her beloved husband in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

There will be a gathering of family and friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at the Heritage Park Community Building, Spencer.

A lifelong lover of animals, donations in her memory may be made to the Roane County Humane Society.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting with arrangements.
