West Virginia State Police say a trooper is recovering after being shot and a murder suspect is dead after an incident in Martinsburg. According to a news release, members of the West Virginia State Police Martinsburg Detachment and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office were attempting to locate a murder suspect. While inside of a house in Martinsburg, investigators said a trooper wearing a ballistic vest was shot. The trooper was transported to a hospital to be evaluated. Their name has not been released. Investigators said the suspect barricaded himself inside the home. After an exchange of gunfire, law enforcement went into the home and found the suspect dead.
