CALHOUN'S CCCOA SENIOR CENTER WILL REOPEN JUNE 20

(05/26/2021)
The state bureau of senior services announced plans Tuesday to reopen senior centers across West Virginia after June 20, including the Calhoun County Committee on Aging.

The local center has continued to deliver food.

So many seniors have been isolated from others throughout the pandemic for their safety, but with vaccination numbers increasing across the state, officials are making the decision to reopen senior centers in less than a month.

With Governor Justice's recent announcement about senior centers, Commissioner Robert Roswall with the bureau of senior services said centers can reopen their dining rooms and other areas after June 20.

"We've got them distancing in the area," Roswall said. "Some of them, if they have smaller centers, they may be doing multiple meals a day in order to space people."

Roswall said his office sent the 200 centers statewide an 11 page document of CDC recommendations and guidelines on ways to reopen safely.
