MONDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 175 New Cases, Calhoun Has Three New Cases, 72 Cases Past Two Weeks, Mask Wearers Will Use Honor System

Health officials reported one new coronavirus death Monday in West Virginia and 175 new positive cases.

There are 6,296 active cases.

Calhoun has three new cases since Sunday, 72 cases past two week.

Health leaders say new mask guidelines will be based on the honor system. Stores will decide about entry regarding masks.

The daily positive test rate on Monday increased from 4.06% to 5.44%, while the overall positive test rate remained at 5.12%.

As of data from Friday, there were 254 hospitalizations from the virus, including 83 people in intensive care and 35 on ventilators.

As for the county alert system, Hampshire was the only county in red as of Sunday’s data. Fourteen counties were orange, seven were in gold, 11 were yellow and 22 were green. Kanawha County was green.

There have been 645,568 people in the state become fully vaccinated. There have been 149,585 recoveries from the virus since the start of the pandemic.
