MONDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 211 NEW CASES, CALHOUN HAS 8 NEW CASES ALREADY THIS WEEK, 33 LAST WEEK

Three COVID-19 deaths and 211 new positive cases were reported Monday in West Virginia, according to the latest update from the state Department of Health and Human Resources.

Calhoun has eight new cases already this week, record 33 last week.

There are currently 6,983 active cases in the state. The daily positive test rate increased from 4.44% to 5.62% Monday, while the overall positive test rate remained at 5.14%.

As of Friday’s data, there were 246 people hospitalized with the virus, including 78 in intensive care and 34 people on ventilators. The data was not updated as of Monday morning.

There are 629,758 West Virginians who are fully vaccinated and 146,905 residents have recovered from the virus since the pandemic started.

About 35% of US citizens have been fully vaccinated.
