While science has long taken a back seat to politics and conspiracy theories, in more recent times, science is even more readily ignored.

In the last century, rural WV folks managed to step up and get vaccines that eliminated polio, diphtheria, typhoid, among others.

Hard to believe, Gov. Jim Justice is now offering a $100 reward for residents to take the vaccine.

After an 11-day pause was placed on the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, rates are slowing, although the vaccine was said to cause a problem for one in a million.

West Virginia led the nation in vaccination rates at the beginning of the year, but not anymore. The supply and demand is causing some vaccines to be thrown out because of expiration dates.

West Virginians are hesitant to receive any of the three vaccines.

In the bigger picture, COVID-19 could be around for years to come.
