Bernard Leon Wyatt, 98, is among the last men standing from World War II. Also serving in the Korean War. He died on April 22 in Lewisburg WV.

He was a US Army veteran with the 285th Combat Engineers and was in the Battle of the Bulge.

His funeral was Sunday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer, with military rights, followed by burial in the Triplett-Mulberry Ridge family cemetery.

I would be remiss if I did not say that spending time with Bernard running the backwoods of Roane and Calhoun County was an honor, he often attended the annual Whytsell Reunion.

His wife, Patty Roberts Wyatt, a long time civic volunteer, was from the Hur backwoods, from the Jimmie Roberts family.

Rest high.
