| Four more West Virginians have died from complications of COVID-19, the state Department of Health and Human Resources reported on Monday. Health officials reported 378 new positive cases in the past 24 hours. The states total active cases are now at 6,252. The overall positive test rate remained at 5.27% Monday, while the daily positive test rate increased from 5.08% to 5.55%. COVID-19 outbreaks have been reported at seven schools the highest number at one time during the start of the pandemic - in Kanawha County, health officials said. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department said the outbreaks were reported at St. Albans High School, Chamberlain Elementary School, John Adams Middle School, Riverside High School, St. Francis Elementary School, Hayes Middle School and Cross Lanes Christian School. Health officials said 41 students and three staff members are affected. As of Friday, hospitalizations were at 222, including 83 in intensive care and 18 people on ventilators. This data was not updated Monday morning. The latest data shows 487,929 residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 308,504 people have been fully vaccinated. There have been 132,101 COVID-19 recoveries in the state since the start of the pandemic.
