TUCKER COUNTY MAN ARRESTED IN CALHOUN FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES

Nigel E. Jefferies, Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney, says a Tucker County man was arrested on March 19, 2021, pursuant to warrants issued out of Calhoun County for multiple criminal charges. Shawn Michael Sharp, 21, is charged by criminal complaint with three counts of "Sexual Assault in the 3rd Degree," "Use of Minors Filming Sexually Explicit Conduct," and "Distribution and Display to Minors of an Obscene Matter." He is being held in Central Regional Jail with cash bond set at $145,000. The minor victim's name will remain confidential. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case along with the assistance of other local and state law-enforcement agencies. The public is reminded that a criminal charge is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the State has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
