WILD MINGO - The Mingo County Sheriff's Office said a man who was found unconscious in a vehicle in Mingo County faces charges after he attempted to stab the officers who revived him.

Jeremy Scott Williams, 29, of Kermit is charged with one count of malicious assault, two counts of battery on an officer, three counts of obstructing a police officer and three counts of brandishing a deadly weapon, the sheriff's office said.

A criminal complaint said Mingo County Deputies M.L Mounts and T.J. Justice and State Police Cpl. T.G. Kania were attempting to serve a felony warrant Sunday at a home in Brewer Hollow when officers saw a man unconscious in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The complaint said the officers pulled the man out the vehicle and began to give CPR and were getting ready to administer NARCAN.

When the man regained consciousness, he became combative, struck one of the officers and then pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the officers, the complaint said.

One of the officers struck the suspect multiple times, but it seemed to have little effect on him. Firefighters from the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department, responding to a possible overdose, then arrived on the scene and assisted with getting the knife away from the suspect and subduing him, the complaint said.

The suspect was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center to be evaluated and then was taken to Southwestern Regional Jail. One of the officers was also evaluated at the hospital.
