Wilda M. Porter Jones, 89, of Linn

Wilda M. Porter Jones 89, of Hemlock Road, Linn WV, departed this earthly life in the late morning hours of Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the Crestview Manor Nursing home in Jane Lew WV, following a brief illness.

She was born September 17, 1931 in Belleville WV, daughter of the late Harry C. and Gladys Hunt Congrove.

Wilda is a graduate of Williamstown High School, class of 1950. She was a homemaker for most of her working life who loved caring for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, traveling, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever possible.

Wilda was a member of several local organizations including the Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hats, CEO’s, and is a former West Virginia Democrat of the year. She was a Gilmer County Belle in 2016, a Methodist by faith and member of the Troy United Methodist Church.

On December 12, 1998 Wilda was united in marriage to Glen Jones, who survives at their home on Hemlock Road.

Surviving are 3 children, Terry E. Brookover and wife Diane of Orville OH, Jerry L. Brookover and wife Robin of Kenna WV, and Janet Marie Burkhamer and husband Alan of Myrtle Beach SC; 6 grandsons, Tim Brookover and wife Susan, Brian Brookover, Greg Brookover and wife Cheryl, Travis Brookover and wife Lori, Brad Burkhamer and wife Sarah, and Jamie Burkhamer and wife Crystal.

Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and a host of other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents, Wilda is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Carl, Ernest, and Robert “Bobby” Congrove; and her first husband Donald Porter.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc. at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Grove Cemetery in Linn WV. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.

In accordance with the mandates set forth by the State of West Virginia, masks or some kind of facial covering must be worn inside the mortuary establishment at all times and social distancing must be observed.
