MONDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 182 New Cases

West Virginia’s coronavirus numbers continued on the downward trend with no new deaths reported Monday and hospitalizations at their lowest level since October 2020.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release Monday that 182 new virus cases were reported in the past 24 hours.

No new deaths were reported, and the death total remained at 2,325.

Hospitalizations were at 178 (the lowest since 177 on Oct. 18, 2020). Forty-one patients were being treated in intensive care and 24 were on a ventilator.

Active cases continue to fall. The current total is at 5,613 – a decline of 124 from the previous total of 5,737.

The state’s cumulative positive total continues to inch down and was at 5.38%, down from 5.39%. The daily positive test rate rose, and was at 3.41% - up from 2.79%.

DHHR officials said there has been a total of 133,627 virus cases during the pandemic. There have been 125,68 recoveries.

On the county alert map, the wave of green continued. There were 34 counties in green, six in orange, six in gold and nine in yellow. No counties were in red on the map posted by the DHHR on Monday and based on Sunday's data.
