A walking program for people of all ages is being sponsored by the Community Wellness Council. The program is scheduled
to begin March 29 and end June 21.
According to Tony Russell, a member of the council, each participant would be part of a Walking Club at a local site. People
would walk in pairs or larger groups, and reporting of miles walked would be on the honor system.
Each club would name a reporter; participants would keep logs of their walking, and turn them in to the reporter each week.
Prizes and incentives will be offered.
"We are hoping businesses, churches, community centers, afterschool programs, and all kinds of groups will form clubs and
join in," said Mr. Russell.
"The program should promote both health and togetherness. Walking with someone is good for your heart in both a physical
and an emotional way," he said.
