(01/29/2021)
Gilmer County authorities charged Amy Sue Smith, 41, and Franklin Cunningham, 18, of Sand Fork with seven counts of cruelty to animals (dogs), with other dogs likely involved.

Sgt. C. S. Jones described the condition of the dogs in a criminal complaint, some malnourished and having no water, described as skin and bones.

The complaint describes some the dogs appeared to be starving with ribs showing, one dog having vomited up food and had diarrhea.

Three starving pups with worms where bloated from gouging.

The animals were taken into custody.
