SUNDAY WV COVID-19 CASES: 697 CASES REPORTED

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) confirmed 697 cases of COVID-19 in its daily report Sunday, one of its lowest daily case totals of the new year.

The DHHR confirmed is the lowest daily total since Dec. 26 as active cases sit at 26,858.

Calhoun started the week with one new case, 18 new cases last week and 28 new cases the previous week.

Gov. Jim Justice has been lauded for the delivery of available vaccines in WV.

Hospitalizations dropped 70 in Sunday’s report to 648. 178 virus patients are in the ICU and 89 on ventilators, also marking decreases of 12 and six respectively.

15 deaths were confirmed by the DHHR Sunday to mark a statewide death total of 1,776.
