SATURDAY WV COVID-19 UPDATE: 1,880 NEW CASES, 16 NEW DEATHS - Calhoun Adds 33 Cases Since Jan. 1

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,880 new COVID-19 cases and 16 additional deaths in its report on Saturday for the past 24 hours.

The DHHR confirmed 1,896 new COVID-19 cases and 36 additional deaths in its report on Friday. Calhoun has added 33 cases since Jan. 1.

The state’s active total to 28,980, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The overall positive test rate was 5.31%, up from 5.25%, while the daily positive test rate was 8.12%.

There have been 1,570 virus-related deaths in West Virginia since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 768 people hospitalized with the coronavirus, including 200 in intensive care and 98 people on ventilators.

In an update on the vaccine, the state said it has administered nearly 11,000 more doses since its previous update. West Virginia has received 109,440 doses and administered 88,128 as of Saturday morning.
