CALHOUN COUNTY'S FESTIVAL OF VOICES - Come Enjoy The Talent April 12, 2003

By Dan Cosgrove

Tickets are now available for Calhoun's own "Festival of Voices." Featuring the internationally-known Appalachian Children's Chorus (ACC), the concert is scheduled for Saturday, April 12th at the Calhoun County Middle/High School Auditorium. The concert will start at 7:00 p.m., with a spaghetti dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are free to students. We are requesting a $3 donation from adults. The spaghetti dinner is $5 and includes a preferred seating ticket for the concert. The concert is sponsored and coordinated by the Arnoldsburg Lights On! Children's Choir and all donations will go to continue funding the Arnoldsburg Choir.

This will also be your chance to see the Heartwood in the Hills' Dance Team perform on stage. These young dancers have devoted numerous hours, including many Sunday afternoons, to put on a dance you will not forget. It is truly amazing to see the caliber of dancers we have right here in Calhoun County. If you haven't been to a Heartwood production, you're in for a treat--you have to see it to believe it!

The Arnoldsburg Lights On! Children's Choir has also been working hard over the last few months preparing for this very special event. The 25 member strong choir meets every Thursday and has done performances throughout the community and at the Rotunda at the State Capitol. They will not only sing a few songs by themselves, but have been invited to join the Appalachian Children's Chorus for three numbers.

The Appalachian Children's Chorus is a professional organization that has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and many countries overseas. Ticket prices for their last concert a couple of weeks ago in Charleston were $30 each.

We ask for your support, simply by coming and appreciating the talented children of Calhoun County and West Virginia.

Tickets are available by calling the main Lights On! office at 354-7595 or the Arnoldsburg Lights On! office at 655-8616 (ext. 3). Spaghetti dinner tickets will not be sold at the door (advanced sales only).
