THURSDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT: 37 NEW DEATHS, 1,325 NEW CASES

In its daily COVID-19 report, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said 37 more people have died in the state from the virus.

Six additional Calhoun cases reported since yesterday.

The state death total is now 1,518 with an overall total of 96,002 cases of the virus since the pandemic started. There were 27,603 active cases Thursday. Over the last 24 hours, 1,325 new cases were reported.

The overall positive test rate was 5.21%, up from 5.18%, while the daily positive test rate was 7.10%, down from 11.65% Tuesday.

Hospitalizations were at 789 Thursday in the Mountain State, down 29 from the previous day. There were 219 in intensive care and 96 patients on a ventilator.

State officials reported 5,859 more doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered since the previous day. West Virginia has administered 66,792 doses so far and has received 109,440 doses in total.
