TUESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT: RECORD 46 DEATHS, 1,276 NEW CASES - Calhoun Has 10 New Cases

West Virginia reported its most deaths in a single day Tuesday since the COVID-19 pandemic started, as 46 more people lost their lives from the virus.

The previous record was Dec. 22, 2020, with 42 deaths reported in a single day.

Calhoun has ten new cases since yesterday, according to WVDHHR.

Health officials confirmed 1,276 new cases Tuesday. The overall positive test rate was 5.12%, up from 5.07%, while the daily positive test rate was 12.01%, down from 13.81% Monday.

The total of active cases in West Virginia is now 27,316.

Hospitalizations were at 806 Tuesday in the Mountain State, up seven from the previous day. There were 214 in intensive care and 92 patients on a ventilator -- both totals up slightly from the previous day.

State officials reported 4,133 more doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered since the Monday update. West Virginia has administered 56,354 doses so far and has received 103,375 doses in total.

There are currently 64,404 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in West Virginia.
