HAPPY NEW YEAR: 2,500 RECORD NUMBERS WV NEW COVID-19 CASES

Health officials reported nearly 2,500 record number of COVID-19 cases Friday in West Virginia along with 23 deaths.

The cases continue to rise in Calhoun.

There have been 1,361 virus-related deaths in West Virginia since the start of the pandemic.

Hospitalizations also increased Friday, up eight to 809. Intensive care admissions were at 211, up five from the previous day, while the number of people on a ventilator increased by three to 102.

In an update on vaccines, the state said it has received 103,375 doses and has administered 49,037 doses so far.
