(12/30/2020)
12-29-2020 - Calhoun Superintendent of Schools Kelli Whytsell announced Dec. 29 a second employ with COVID-19 within the county school system, which is on holiday break.

"In an effort to be transparent with the community and respect the privacy of our employees, we want to inform you that Calhoun County Schools has had one additional employee test positive for COVID-19. This case is not related to the other positive employee," Whytsell said.

Whytsell said this employee was last at school on December 23 and did not participate in the "Blessing Boxes" in the food giveaway.

She said the school system is in touch with the MOVHD and will be following the health department's guidance. Close contacts of this employee have been identified and notified. As a school system, our employees do the COVID-19 screeners, take temperatures, and sanitize.

"I encourage everyone to take advantage of free testing," she said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.   We are a close school family and will continue to provide whatever assistance we can safely provide to them during this time.   Thank you for your support of Calhoun County Schools, our students, and the school community.   Together we can get through these challenging times by continuing to support each other," Whytsell concluded.
