MORE COVID DEATHS IN MOV REGION - MOVHD Reports 32 Active Calhoun Cases

(12/25/2020)
Parkersburg, WV, December 23, 2020 – Five deaths have been related to COVID-19 in the last few days. Four of those are from Wood County and one from Ritchie County. The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department would like to extend our deepest sympathy to all those that are grieving their loved ones.

COVID has caused numerous outbreaks in the region as well. Currently, thirteen long-term care facilities, two correctional facilities, one school and one daycare have COVID positive outbreaks. In addition, two healthcare facilities and six other agencies/businesses are dealing with quarantining due to the outbreak.

See numbers for Wednesday below.

If you plan to travel and join family for the holidays, remember to take precautions. If having any type of cold or flu-like symptoms err on the safe side and stay home. COVID is not something you want to bring to the gathering. STAY SAFE - LIMIT CONTACTS, WEAR MASKS, WASH THOSE HANDS

Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department will continue to vaccinate first responders in the next week and follow-up with second doses early January. At this time, we will not be the agency that will vaccinate the elderly, or medical professionals. We recommend checking with your physician or medical association as to where and when the vaccine will be available to you. MOVHD will continue to inform the public as we know more about vaccination roll outs for the general public.
