Leonard Gust Conrad age 85 of US Highway 33 West, Glenville WV departed this earthly life on the morning of Saturday December 12, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born April 25, 1935 in Gilmer County, son of the late Sylvia Conrad.
Leonard worked in the coal mines as a teenager, and spent most of his working life as a well tender and rig hand in the oil and gas industry, having worked for Eastern American and Mike Ross Oil and Gas. After oil and gas, Leonard worked as a farmer and bee keeper. He enjoyed bee keeping very much and was named the 2000 West Virginia Bee Keeper of the year. Along with bee keeping, he enjoyed gardening, working around the house, hunting (when he was able), spending time with family and friends, and caring for his pets Oddie and Black Cat.
On May 13, 1955 he was united in marriage to Irene Helmick Conrad who preceded him in death on April 2, 2011.
Surviving are 5 children, Linda Rowh (Mike) of Parkersburg WV, Vickie Dean of Glenville, Kenny Conrad (Belinda) of High Pointe NC, Kathy McCune (Pete) and Ronald Conrad (Sue) all of Glenville.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his mother and wife, Leonard is preceded in death by his baby daughter, Diane Conrad, and 6 siblings, Harold, Rhueal, Stacy and Gerald Conrad, Sue Bosley and Edibelle Rogers.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Hiney Cemetery near Linn WV at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 with Rev. Ed Wade officiating with burial to follow.
