WV COVID-19 31 DEATHS WEDNESDAY - 1,402 New Cases Wednesday, MOVHD/WVDHHR Reports Different Active Cases

WV has surpassed 20,000 active Coronavirus cases.

The MOVHD is reporting 31 active cases in Calhoun with the WVDHHR saying Calhoun has 19 active cases.

Calhoun schools have gone to orange. If they remain orange through Saturday there will be no in-person school in Calhoun next week.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,402 new COVID-19 cases and 31 additional deaths in its report on Wednesday, as the death total exceeded 900 and the active case total surpassed 20,000 for the first time.

The DHHR announced 932 new cases and 29 deaths on Tuesday, meaning a total of 60 deaths have been announced in the last two days.

The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, there have been a total of 1,250,368 (+13,518) laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 58,462 (+1,402) total cases and 901 (+31) of those cases resulting in deaths.

According to the DHHR’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are currently 20,059 (+382) active cases and 37,502 (+989) recovered cases in the state. As of Wednesday, more than a third; approximately 34.31% of all COVID-19 cases that have been identified in West Virginia since the pandemic began in March are currently active.
