FRIDAY WV COVID-19 UPDATE: CALHOUN HAS SEVEN NEW CASES - 1,147 New WV Cases, 17,000 Active WV Cases, 10 New Deaths

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported Friday morning there are more than 17,000 active COVID-19 cases in the state.

Calhoun has seven additional cases Friday, with 25 active cases reported earlier.

Most Calhoun cases are in the 30-39 age group.

ACTIVE CASES: Roane 68; Clay 42; Braxton 42; Gilmer 48; Ritchie 70; Wirt 43.

As of Friday, there were 17,716 active cases. Over the last 24 hours, 1,147 new cases were reported. There have been more than 52,000 positive cases since the pandemic started.

The DHHR also reported 10 deaths Friday, raising the state’s total lives lost to 799 from the virus.

Hospitalizations continue to trend upward, moving from 624 Thursday to 632 Friday. There are 169 being treated in intensive case and 92 on a ventilator.

The state’s cumulative positive rate also continues to rise and is at 3.76%, up from 3.73% Thursday. The daily positive percentage rate decreased from 6.94% Thursday to 5.37% Friday.

There have been more than 33,600 recover from the virus in the state.
