Reverend Benjamin Ray Kerby Sr., age 80, of Unionville VA, formerly Spencer WV, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was born September 28, 1940, in Rocksdale WV, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Kerby Sr. and Alma Evelyn (Lynch) Hill. He is survived by his beloved wife Stella L. (Norman) Kerby; three children, Charlotte M. Helmick (Wayne) of Manassas VA, Benjamin R. Kerby Jr (Emily) of Millstone WV, Billy R. Kerby of Calhoun WV; 5 grandsons, Bradley Helmick (Kristin), Jonathan Helmick (Amber), William Helmick (Danielle), Nicholas Kerby (Cecilia), and Lucas Kerby; 4 great-granddaughters, Maddy, Caroline, Adelynn, and Madisyn; two brothers, James Kirby of Plainfield IN and Holly Kerby of Ravenswood WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Brooksene (Reed) Kerby; one son, Bradley R. Kerby; three brothers, Darrell, Woody, and Richard, and one sister, Rose. Funeral services will be conducted at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg WV, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, with Pastor Randy Wilson and special words by Jerry Sowders. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Gibson Cemetery in Arnoldsburg WV. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Air Force Honor Guard.
