FRIDAY WV COVID-19: STATE EXCEEDS 15,000 ACTIVE NEW CASES - Regional County Rise

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 866 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, as the state’s active case total exceeded 15,000 for the first time.

More than 13 million cases of the coronavirus have now been reported in the United States, with the most recent million coming in less than a week, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

There have been more than 264,000 reported deaths in the United States according to Johns Hopkins. Globally there have been more than 61.4 million confirmed coronavirus cases and 1.44 million deaths associated with the virus.

The WV-DHHR announced 1,130 new COVID-19 cases and 17 additional deaths in its report on Thanksgiving Day.

The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Friday, November 27, there have been a total of 1,095,837 (+16,771) laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 45,046 (+866) total cases and 712 (+0) of those cases resulting in deaths.

According to the DHHR’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are currently 15,326 (+576) active cases and 29,008 (+290) recovered cases in the state. As of Friday, more than a third; approximately 34.02%, of all COVID-19 cases that have been identified in West Virginia since the pandemic began in March are currently active.
