UPDATE: THURSDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT: 1,122 NEW CASES. 11 DEATHS , CALHOUN HAS THREE MORE ACTIVE CASES, 23 WV CHURCH OUTBREAKS

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,122 new COVID-19 cases and 11 additional deaths in its report on Thursday, making it the second time in one week that more than 1,000 new cases were reported in a single day.

The DHHR announced 953 new COVID-19 cases and 14 additional deaths.

Calhoun has three new active cases, according to the report, cases rising in most regional counties.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said there are currently 273 coronavirus cases in the state from outbreaks at churches.

DHHR officials said Thursday there is a total of 23 active church outbreaks reported in 17 counties.

Outbreaks linked to church revival in Jackson County, 16 people test positive for COVID-19.

Active COVID-19 cases in Kanawha top 1,000 for first time.

The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, there have been a total of 972,894 (+16,966) laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 37,399 (+1,122) total cases and 623 (+11) of those cases resulting in deaths.

According to the DHHR’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are currently 11,643 (+471) active cases and 25,133 (+640) recovered cases in the state.
