Alice J Palmer Ramsey, 81, of Shinnston, formerly Sand Ridge

Alice J Palmer Ramsey, 81, of Shinnston, WV and formerly of Bowie, MD, passed away on Friday, November 06, 2020 at St Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home.

She was born November 24, 1938 in Sand Ridge, WV, daughter of the late William David and Esta Poling Palmer.

Alice graduated from Calhoun High School. She babysat and did crafts for many years. Alice and her sister Cora wrote and published a book called “It Happened in West Virginia.” Alice enjoyed reading, doing needlepoint and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Shinnston.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar Ramsey, whom she married on January 28, 1961; two daughters, Carole A Rehm and Kenneth, Shinnston, WV, Janeel R James and David, Sudlersville, MD; four grandchildren, Wayne Ramsey, Kevin Connolly, Hannah James, and Sydonia Garrott and Patrick; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Matthew; two sisters, Leora Mae Kalman, Taneytown, MD, and Lora Nell Hewitt, Jackson, MI; brother-in-law, Rev John Foster, Cabot, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Clara Belle Newell, Grace Palmer, Delma Ruth Kerby, Dola Palmer, and Cora Foester; and by her nephew Robert Kerby.

Davis Funeral Home handled the cremation arrangements for the Ramsey Family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah, WV, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
