WV SEES 2,323 NEW CASES COVID-19 IN THREE DAYS - Calhoun Has Seven Active Cases

(11/14/2020)
With COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the nation spiking to record levels, we’re starting to see states bring back restrictions, urge people to work from home and ask schools to go back to remote learning.

The U.S. set a single-day record of more than 160,000 coronavirus cases on Thursday. Cases nationwide were up more than 70% in the last 14 days, disputing a widely spread political meme that the "virus would all be over by election day."

Most of the nation's epidemiologists are saying, with colder weather coming, the worst has yet to arrive.

WV has confirmed 2,323 new COVID-19 cases in the last three days, according to numbers released Friday morning by the state Department of Health and Human Resources. There were 742 cases added Friday.

The numbers were 696 Thursday and a record one-day high of 885 on Wednesday. Active COVID-19 cases in the state now stand at 8,531.

Active cases in Calhoun are seven.

Gilmer 95; Ritchie 41; Wirt 13; Braxton 25; Clay 23 and Roane 18.

Fascinatingly, despite the growing case numbers, there are no “red” counties on the governor's COVID-19 daily map.

The state says deaths now stand at 565.

The daily positivity test rate is at 4.06% and the overall positivity test rate since the pandemic started is 3.14%, the highest level since April 24.

Hospitalizations grew by 33 patients Friday, now up to 339, a pandemic record. There are 104 patients in ICU and 34 of them being treated on ventilators.
