FIRST FOREST FIRE OF SEASON ON STINSON/MUD FORK - "So Steep A Billy Goat Couldn't Stand" |

![]() The Upper West Fork, Arnoldsburg, Grantsville Volunteer Fire Departments, responded to a fire on Stinson Road/Mud Fork at 5 p.m. Thursday, the first official forest fire of the season. The fire was near the Clay County line, Calhoun EMS and the Calhoun Sheriffs Department also responded. A firemen suffered an injury to the eye. The fire was located on a steep hillside, described by a fireman as a place that a "billy goat could not stand," a dense forested area. The fire had already burned over a considerable area, brought under control. The Grantsville VFD responded to a car fire about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The fire was at Oshe Lane on Leading Creek. |
