Russett resident Willis "Tom" Gainer has been presented with a lifetime membership in Lions Clubs International. The lifetime achievement award is in recognition of his service to Lionism and the Calhoun Community.

Gainer joined Grantsville Lions in 1965 and has held many offices in the organization. He was the Sight Chairman for over twenty years, in addition to being the president and serving on the board.

In 1989 he was named "Lion of the Year," but his fellow members say he was a "doer" and a person who showed up to help the community, including his longtime association with the Calhoun County Library. The Library recently acknowledged his support and work.

The Calhoun Commission also presented Gainer with a plaque recognizing his public service to the county.
