Patty Jean Burkhamer, age 83 of Linn WV, departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Friday, October 9, 2020 at her home following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.She was born on October 27, 1936 in Troy WV, daughter of the late Howard and Madeline Radcliff Bonnett. Patty was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1954 and went on to attend Glenville State College. She worked as a secretary for the Gilmer County Department of Highways and retired as a secretary of Troy Elementary School. Patty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren whenever possible, helping anyone that needed it, and spending time with her husband and family. On June 29, 1957 Patty was united in marriage to Ray Mark Burkhamer. They celebrated 63 years of marriage this past summer and could be seen hand in hand for the entirety of those 63 wonderful years. Surviving are 2 daughters, Tammy Gandee and husband Steve of Jane Lew WV and Tina Cunningham and husband Greg of Troy; and 5 Grandchildren, Stephee and Drew Gandee, and Tyler, Austin, and Colby Cunningham. Also surviving are 5 siblings, Danny Bonnett and wife Ann of Linn, Ronnie Bonnett and wife Billie of Elkins WV, Betty Luzier of Davis WV, Terry Bonnett and wife Janet of Troy, and Connie Minney and husband Dan also of Troy, Jeanie Matheny and husband Joe of Troy whom Patty always considered a sister, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends . Along with her parents, Patty is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bob and Jack Bonnett. A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville WV at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2020 with Rev. Bill Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Troy IOOF Cemetery in Troy. Friends will be received from 10:00 11:00 Monday morning at the mortuary in Glenville. In accordance with the mandates set forth by the State of West Virginia, masks or some kind of facial covering must be worn inside the mortuary establishment and social distancing must be observed.
