Wilma Jean Bonnette Wilson, 91, of Elizabeth

Wilma Jean Bonnette Wilson peacefully returned to the Lord on September 29, 2020, at her home in Elizabeth WV, at age 91.

Wilma was born on April 6, 1929, to the late Eura Bonnette and Wilma Hutchinson Bonnette of Elizabeth. Wilma graduated from Wirt County High School with the class of 1948. She married Marvin Duane "Wimp" Wilson on May 30, 1948. They had two children, Adair and Linda, and enjoyed 67 years together. Wilma dedicated much of her life to the school system as a teacher's aide at Elizabeth Elementary School and as a guidance counselor secretary at Wirt County High.

Wilma was a long-time member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, singing in the choir and assisting with Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Eastern Stars, a 4-H leader and a Girl Scout leader. Wilma frequently volunteered, assisting at Red Cross blood drives, reading to students at Wirt County Middle School library and serving lunches at God Answers Prayer. She was a talented baker, painter and seamstress with a passion for travel, gardening and spending time with her family.

Wilma is survived by brother, Harold (Betty) Bonnette; sister, Roberta Struble; son, Adair "DA" (Tammy) Wilson; daughter, Linda (Rick) Davies; grandchildren Brett (Tracy) Collins Brian (Ryan) Collins, Brittany Davies, Andrew (Jennifer) Wilson, Alex (Jill) Wilson; great-grandchildren Bray Collins, Karl Collins, Everen Wilson and Lucy Wilson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Forrest, Virgil, Denver and Paul Bonnette; sisters, Vivian Thompson, Esther Kidder and Helen McCoy and her husband Marvin Duane "Wimp" Wilson.

Visitation will be held at Matheny Funeral Home of Elizabeth, Friday, October 9, 2020, from 6 - 8 p.m. Masks will be required and social distancing observed. The service will be conducted by Pastor Dwight Goff at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10. Wilma will be interred next to her husband at the K of P Cemetery.
