WEDNESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Reports Indicate Calhoun Has 8-10 Active Cases, 203 New Cases, Two Nurses Die

WV added 203 COVID-19 cases and five deaths in Wednesday’s report from the state Department of Health and Human Resources.

The deaths include a 56-year old male from Kanawha County, a 65-year old male from Kanawha County, a 67-year old male from Wyoming County, a 72-year old female from Harrison County, and an 81 year old male from Fayette County.

1,000 of the active cases are in Kanawha County.

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice said the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 369 residents and now two nurses, one at Ruby Memorial and one in Huntington at Mildred Bateman. One was age 48.

WVDHHR is reporting 28 total cases in Calhoun, two more than the MOVHD report, which indicates Calhoun has 8-10 active cases.

A number of law officers and Emergency Medical Service personnel have the virus.

A number of WV Public Schools have had outbreaks.

There are 41 virus outbreaks at long-term care facilities in the state and 13 outbreaks at churches in nine counties.

There are now 4,327 active COVID-19 cases in the state with 168 of those residents hospitalized The state’s daily positivity test rate was at 3.27% Wednesday.

According to Gov. Justice's daily map, Upshur County is the only orange county on the COVID-19 map. Gold counties include Doddridge, Harrison, Berkeley, Nicholas, Boone, Logan and Mingo counties. The rest are green.
