WV SATURDAY COVID-19 - 161 New Cases

Two new COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in West Virginia Saturday morning as the state added 161 new cases.

Calhoun has at least two new cases. with cases rising in Roane and Clay.

Kanawha County has two EMS employs with COVID-19.

Today Governor Andy Beshear reported the highest-ever daily total and the highest-ever weekly total of new COVID-19 cases in the commonwealth. 1,275 new cases were announced today.

The virus remains at pandemic levels in many states.

The additional deaths of an 86-year old woman from Fayette County and an 82-year old woman from Kanawha County raise the state’s total to 357, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

The active case total in the state increased slightly to 4,173. There have been 16,468 total cases since the pandemic began.

West Virginia’s overall positive test rate dropped from 2.77% to 2.76% Saturday while the daily positive test rate came in at 2.42%.

There are currently 171 residents hospitalized with the virus, including 57 in intensive care -- both totals up from the previous day. Thirty-two residents remain on ventilators.
