CALHOUN HAS TWO NEW CASES COVID-19 - Active WV Cases Reaches New High, Roane County High Has COVID-19 Case, Spencer Elementary Already Closed

The WVDHHR is reporting two new active cases of COVID-19 in Calhoun Friday morning, with increasing cases in most regional counties.

Roane County High School reported Friday a case of COVID-19 dismissing school, with Spencer Elementary already closed.

Students, staff quarantine at two schools in Cabell County after positive COVID-19 cases.

Active cases in West Virginia reached a new record high in Friday morning’s report at 4,153 after the addition of 283 new cases from Thursday to Friday.

The statewide positivity test rate is 2.8%. One death was reported Friday, an 89-year-old man from Marion County died from the virus.

The threat of COVID-19 appeared to decrease and the spread under control with Gov. Jim Justice modifying Harvard Medical's tracking map, saying WV has some smart people to make the change.

The counting of COVID-19 cases in WV public schools has been blurred while several hundred active cases quarantined in college dorms being counted as single cases.
