TOWN OF GRANTSVILLE HIRES PART-TIME LOCAL POLICE OFFICERS

The Grantsville Police Department has officially hired two part-time patrolman, replacing former Grantsville Police Chief Craig Gherke (right) who resigned in June.

Grantsville Mayor Ronald Blankenship has hired Calhoun Deputy Sheriffs Jason Chang and Wiley Raines as the part-time policemen.

Sheriff Jeff Starcher stated that full-time deputy sheriffs are authorized to engage in part-time employment while off-duty, as long as the part-time employment does not affect their full-time positions. Both officers are certified graduates of the West Virginia State Police Academy, and have been serving the county since 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Grantsville Mayor Ronald Blankenship has expressed his appreciation to Sheriff Jeff Starcher for his guidance in filling the vacancies and assistance with ensuring that the Grantsville Police Department is properly equipped.

The officers are expected to begin their part-time duties with the Town of Grantsville next week.
