Jerri Lea Metheney, 67, of Creston OH

Jerri Lea Metheney, 67, of Creston OH passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 surrounded by her family after a two month illness with cancer.

Jerri was born June 6, 1953 at Clay WV to the late Romie and Ruby (Fitzwater) Hanshaw and married Daris Junior Metheney on Aug. 26, 2000.

 She graduated from Coastal Carolina University and had worked at Santmyer Oil in Wooster OH until retiring.  Jerri enjoyed yard sales, vacations with her sisters and her mother and going to the casinos.  Jerri always cared for her large family and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Daris Junior "Jobby" Metheney; sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and June Renee Burnside of Spencer WV and Jeff and Bonnie Burnside of Creston OH; step-son, Darius Ray (Maggie) Metheney of Chloe WV; grandchildren, Jessica Goyette, Garrett, Nicholas, Ruby and  Jonathan Burnside, and Thomas, Kimberly and Sammy Metheney; 3 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jacob Goyette and Waylon Metheney; her sisters and brothers, Diane Rucker of California, Merlene (Roger) Hooser of Millersburg OH, Debra Higgins of Auburn IN, Sheena (Ricky) Jarvis of Chloe, Bill Hanshaw of Clay, Bob Hanshaw of Spencer, Rusty (Hope) Hanshaw of Reedy WV, Ronnie (Rebecca) Hanshaw of Chloe, and Larry (Jimed) Hanshaw of Creston OH and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death a step-daughter, Reta Metheney and a sister, Gale Hanshaw.

The service will be Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.  at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.  Burial will be in the Coen Cemetery, Chloe.
