SUNDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 178 New Cases

Another COVID-19 death was confirmed in West Virginia Sunday.

An 81-year-old woman from Logan County has died from the virus, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. There have been 266 virus-related deaths in the state since the pandemic began.

State health officials also confirmed 178 new cases, raising West Virginia’s active case total to 3,143.

Saturday 378 new cases, record numbers.

60 COVID-19 patients at Charleston Area Medical Center and climbing.

The overall positive test rate inched up to 2.63% while the daily positive test rate came in at 3.20%.

There are currently 147 residents hospitalized due to the virus, including 58 in intensive care and 26 on ventilators.

Calhoun County was briefly in the Orange category because of a spike in active cases, a total of 22.

Roane is seeing a spike with a total of 41, Clay a total of 30.
