CALHOUN HAS NUMBER OF NEW ACTIVE CASES COVID-19 - Cases Rising To 17

Calhoun's COVID-19 cases have been climbing the past 72 hours to 17 cases, several active, while Roane's cases are now 36.

Calhoun Schools are now color-coded yellow, after being in the lowest category green, and some adjustments will be made for opening day of school Tuesday.

State health officials confirmed three new COVID-19 deaths Sunday in West Virginia to go along with 123 new cases.

The new deaths were an 81-year-old man from Kanawha County, an 83-year-old woman from Logan County and a 68-year-old man from Monroe County, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The state's virus-related death toll is now 246.

The active case total in the state now sits at 2,610. The overall positive test rate remained at 2.49% while the daily positive test rate came in at 2.37%.

Hospitalizations due to the virus dropped from 154 to 149, while intensive care admissions increased by two to 51. There are also 22 residents on ventilators.

At least 8,556 West Virginians have recovered from the virus.
