SHERIFF ARRESTS HALLUCINATING MAN, BREAKING WINDOW ON ALTIZER ROAD - Contending Individuals Trying To Kill Him

UPDATE - Calhoun Sheriff Jeff Starcher arrested an Arnoldsburg man early Wednesday morning charging him with a person prohibited with a firearm, destruction of property and falsely reporting an emergency incident.

Nathan Gregory Selmon, 37, is in Central Regional.

A criminal complaint says that Selmon had knocked out a window of a Houchin residence about 2 a.m., stating "They are after me. They are trying to kill me."

Sheriff Starcher and Deputy W. T. Raines intercepted Selmon in the Altizer roadway walking toward Arnoldsburg, with Jeff Houchin following him in a vehicle.

Selmon had a Smith and Wesson revolver in his front waistline, as he surrenderd to the officers.

Sheriff Starcher, in the criminal complaint, said a search of the area could not find any subjects making threats to Selmon, although he continued to say, "They are here. They are coming for me."

The criminal complaint said that Selmon had used meth three hours earlier, stating he had relapsed on the drug, admitting he had a habitual problem for 5-7 years.

The criminal complaint indicated Selmon had previous convictions, and complied with a drug screen which tested positive for meth.

Sgt. C. J. Weekley of the State Police assisted with the arrest.

ORIGINAL STORY - Calhoun Sheriff Jeff Starcher intercepted a man, taking him into custody on Altizer Road near Arnoldsburg at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Nathan Gregory Selmon, 37, was allegedly agitated and was armed.

Sheriff Starcher, a deputy and a state policeman responded to a incident reported to 911 at another location, also on Altizer Road.

Selmon is charged with Prohibited Person W/firearm-1; False Reporting of Emergency; Destruction Of Property.

Selmon is also charged with a capias warrant from Roane County.
