MURDER - A Summers County man is in custody after he allegedly shot and killed his nephew as he approached his home on Paul Lowe Road in Jumping Branch Saturday evening at around six o’clock.

State police said Jimmy Roger Dunford, 67, shot Jeremy Dunford, 42, both of Jumping Branch, in connection with an argument the two had the previous day. Troopers said Jeremy Dunford was told by Jimmy Dunford not to return to his residence.

“The suspect parked at the top of Paul Lowe Road expecting the arrival of the victim,” state police said. “The victim arrived, shots were fired and the victim was struck in the right shoulder which penetrated through to his chest.”

Jeremy Dunford died on the way to the hospital.

Jimmy Dunford is being held without bail at the Southern Regional Jail.
