MONDAY COVID-19 WV REPORT: Calhoun Has 10th Case Reported, Roane Cases Increasing,

After a record week with 35 COVID-19 deaths in West Virginia, another death was reported Monday and the number of active virus cases in the state topped 2,000.

According to the WV-DHHR, Calhoun now has a 10th case reported.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed in a news release the death of a 58-year-old man from Raleigh County.

The latest death brings the total in West Virginia to 214.

Meanwhile, the state now has 2,019 coronavirus cases.

A report says the state also added 140 new COVID-19 cases Monday.

The state’s overall positive test rate was at 2.35%, and the daily positive test rate was at 2.80%. More than 435,000 tests have been conducted.

Hospitalizations dropped by two from Sunday and were listed at 139, with 49 in intensive care and 23 on a ventilator. Recoveries were up 34 and were listed at 8,017.
